01 — Overview

A travel blog built for life on the road

Airstreaming Life was designed as a travel blog with dedicated admin pages and tagging tools that make article management easier for a writer who is often traveling.

The product combines a public-facing editorial experience with a practical content-management workflow, allowing articles to be published, edited, categorized, and surfaced through the site.

The Challenge

Travel content is inspiring. Managing it should be simple.

A travel writer needs an easy way to publish stories while moving between destinations. The platform needed to support article creation, editing, organization, and presentation without relying on a fragmented publishing workflow.

Core product question

How can a travel blog balance a warm, inspiring public experience with a practical and efficient admin workflow?

02 — Product Process

From stories to a publishing system

The platform began as a custom travel blog and evolved over time through visual refinements, publishing improvements, and ongoing iteration.

01

Plan

Defined the need for a public travel blog and an admin experience that a writer could use from the road.

02

Build

Configured a SQL database and built CRUD workflows for creating, editing, publishing, and managing articles.

03

Organize

Added article tagging and archive tools to help readers browse content and help the writer manage growing content.

04

Refine

Continued refining the brand, content experience, and future admin functionality over the following years.

03 — Discovery

Understanding Scope

The goal was to build both a travel blog and an admin interface for a travel writer. The initial platform took approximately two weeks to build and has been refined over the last two years.

The project needed to serve two distinct needs: make the editorial content enjoyable to explore, and make publishing new stories manageable from anywhere.

05 — Publishing Workflow

Narrowing Focus

The first key task was creating a homepage that surfaced the most recent travel stories and gave readers a clear introduction to the blog.

Behind the scenes, the experience required a SQL database and a CRUD interface so articles could be created, edited, published, and updated without manual page changes.

Product takeaway

A useful CMS reduces publishing friction and lets creators spend more time on their stories.

06 — Content Discovery

Creating the Blog

The blog experience needed to make it easy for visitors to browse published articles without feeling overwhelmed by a growing archive.

Tagging options were added so readers could explore related travel topics, while a clear blog page organized all published content in one place.

07 — Brand Refresh

Evaluating Branding

After launch, the site was redesigned with a more personal, scrapbook-inspired aesthetic to better match the tone of the travel blog.

The refresh introduced changes to typography, photography, and color direction, creating a brighter and more playful travel identity.

  • More personal editorial personality
  • Sunny, travel-inspired color direction
  • Better alignment between story and design

08 — Iteration

Testing Iterations

The platform has gone through several iterations as the blog, its content library, and its authoring needs have grown.

The current backend uses basic WYSIWYG editors. Future redesigns can introduce more customized editing tools to better support expanded admin inputs and publishing options.
